As Dusk Falls: A New and Original Interactive Drama Game

As Dusk Falls is a new interactive choice-based narrative video game, released a mere few days ago. The game’s artwork animation is unique and plays like a motion graphic novel. The game has an interesting story, and as they describe on their website:

“It follows two families in their struggle to survive, protect, and endure through challenges rooted in the previous generations’ mistakes.”

The game does a great job with having you learn about all sides of the characters, and will have you switching from rooting for one side to the other constantly.

It plays like a standard point and click game with various quick time events that you can either choose to take or not. After every chapter, the game shows you the entire timeline and where your particular choices lie in the web of possible actions and consequences. And the web is indeed detailed. In other words, nearly all your choices matter in this one.

I think games are getting better at having your choices affect the outcomes of individual characters and the game itself. In contrast to Telltales’ earlier games (such as The Wolf Among Us), where many characters apparently “will…
