New theme park rides and coasters are constantly being built to one-up each other, so that no one ride can be known as “the best” for too long. But which beast is currently leading in the coaster realm?

Back in 2020, I visited Cedar Fair’s greatest and most notable US theme park for the first time. This company now owns the theme park I had grown up with in Canada (that used to be owned by Paramount) — having spent countless summers as a season pass holder of this park as a child.

I rode the classic coasters of that great park over and over again. Those whose childhoods crossed paths with this park might find these coaster names familiar: Dragon Fire, The Bat, The Beast, The Fly, The Great Canadian Mine Buster, Vortex, Silver Streak, Thunder Run, Top Gun (now known as Flight Deck), and the now defunct SkyRider.
